Welcome to the

HEBRIDES INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Welcome to the Hebrides International Film Festival.

Festival Dates : 24th to 27th September 2025.

The Hebrides International Film Festival is a unique pan island Film Festival created to deliver access to independent international film - drama and documentary - for the people of the Outer Hebrides. The festival presents screenings in community venues across the islands of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra and in An Lanntair Arts Centre in Stornoway. The festival champions high quality independent features and short films from Scottish, National and International independent film makers.

HIFF also undertakes outreach activities which are linked to the content of the film programme, this year we will be presenting industry masterclasses with visiting UK film makers, Discussion events, Film Q&A’s, outdoor wildlife lectures and walks, whale watching and beach cleans.

Our theme in 2025 is:  Sustainable Rural Lives - International Film Narratives and Inspiring Climate Action Documentaries.

Over the next few weeks we will gradually relveal our unique curated film programme for the Hebrides.  Our funding confirmations were quite late this year but we have been working hard to get all the films programmes ready for the rural venues.

More about us:

The Hebrides International Film Festival is a curated Festival, meaning we hand pick all of the films shown in collaboraton with our local island promoters. We are a small, passionate team, and each of the films we screen connects in some way to island culture the climate change crisis and relevant island issues.
