Film makers interviews & masterclasses

Masterclass with Johnny Barrington: The Escape from Ardvasar

After Portree High School, Isle of Skye, Johnny worked as a ship’s photographer in the Pacific for two years before studying at The Glasgow School of Art. Since graduation, two of his short films, TROUT and TUMULT have been nominated for BAFTA’s and screened at film festivals including Sundance.

He continues to write screenplays and clad extensions in Glasgow, Mull and Skye.

SILENT ROAR his debut feature, is an adolescent tale of surfing, grief and sexual awakening. Set in Uig, Isle of Lewis, it was shot on 16mm film just after covid, and pushes up against monoliths, both archeological and cultural.

His Masterclass, “The Escape from Ardvasar” will be about his path from shorts to features, and will be accompanied by an audiovisual slideshow of images and sounds that inspired him. Guaranteed to get you shifting in your seat.

*An audience cattle prod will be provided to cut short ruminations on art and society / keep him within parameters of acceptability.
